In this course, the clinician will learn the foundational truth of the Tissue Stress Model, and how it correlates to the foot and other soft tissue in the body, allowing the clinician to understand end range tissue stress effects. Orthotic application and how it prevents foot pain will be reviewed with a guide to best in class application for superior patient outcomes.

At the completion of this course the participants will be able to:

• Describe the problems or issues that have been identified with the podiatric model.
• Identify the components of a Load-Deformation Curve.
• Differentiate the application of the Tissues Stress Model to acute versus overuse injuries.
• List the components of the management protocol used with the Tissues Stress Model.
• Describe the role of the plantar intrinsic muscles, plantar aponeurosis, and plantar ligaments in the foot core system as defined by McKeon and colleagues.
• Describe the role of a foot orthosis in the Tissue Stress Model.
