Manual therapy techniques have long been interventions used by a variety of rehabilitation professionals. New technology and research has progressed these techniques to include instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and kinesiology taping to influence fascia and the underlying neural tissue. IASTM can enhance patient results while decreasing the stresses placed on the clinician’s hands while kinesiology taping, often relegated to sports applications, can re-enforce orthopedic and neurological interventions. Course content will include use of IASTM and kinesiology taping for joint and soft tissue manipulation.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this seminar, the attendee should be able to:
- Understand the influence of neuromyofascia on movement dysfunctions and pain
- Apply visual and palpatory evaluation skills for neuromyofascia
- Discuss the mechanical and neural influences of IASTM
- Integrate IASTM and kinesiology taping into a rehabilitation plan of care
