Background on ACL Injuries: ACL Injury Prevention Series

What is one of the biggest trends in sports training and conditioning today? It's ACL injury prevention. The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury has become increasingly prevalent in athletes of all ages, genders and sports (although some more than others). Recently, TheraBand and Cramer teamed up with Physiotherapy Associates to create The PhysioSports National ACL Initiative: a research-based program to provide guidance and corrective exercises to reduce athletes' risk of ACL injuries and improve athletic performance overall.

At the forefront of this effort was Trent Nessler PT, MPT, DPT, who serves as the National Director of Sports Medicine for Physiotherapy Associates. We were fortunate enough to get a chance to pick his brain on a variety of topics around ACL injuries. Our new ACL Injury Prevention Series will be sharing insights and research-proven exercises from Dr. Nessler to help your athletes stay safe, healthy and game ready.

Background on ACL Injury Prevention

This week, we're starting with the basics. Watch as Dr. Nessler explains the background of ACL injuries, covering topics such as:

  • How ACL tears and sprains occur
  • The different types of ACL injuries

Watch the video below and stop back weekly for more of Dr. Nessler and our ACL Injury Prevention Series!

With the strong prevalence of the ACL injury in athletics today, we, along with Physiotherapy Associates and Dr. Trent Nessler, know that it's important to be on the forefront of the injury prevention programing. We're excited to announce that, through our partnership, an ACL Injury prevention kit will be released in March of 2016. Each kit will be filled with the expert insights, exercises and all of the tools you need to prehab, rehab and train your athletes.
