5 Ways to Celebrate National Massage Therapy Awareness Week!

This week is your week to shine, massage therapists! This week we are celebrating you, and you should celebrate yourselves.

Although some people think that massages are only given at spas, you know that’s not true! No matter where you work...chiropractic office, client homes, spas, massage chains, hospitals, health clubs (and more)…you are making a difference in your clients’ health whether or not they realize it. With so many benefits that massage therapy can provide, there’s a reason that you are recommended by other healthcare professions.

Check out our list of five ways to celebrate National Massage Therapy Awareness Week and head to the American Massage Therapy Association (ATMA) website to see all the resources that they can offer you both this week and throughout your career!

  1. Charitable Chair Massages

  2. Is there a deserving organization or charity in your community? We’re sure there is! Use this week to give to your community. Giving is better than receiving after all, right? Gather together some local massage therapists and give free chair massages to those who are making a difference in your community.

  3. Educate the Public

  4. Everyone is familiar with massages (plus they LOVE them), but do they know the real benefits they can offer? This is your chance to tell them! The AMTA provides you will all of the resources you would need. Here are just four different articles with quick facts and information that you can share to show just how beneficial your profession really can be:

  6. Raising awareness and drawing attention is easily done on social media these days. If you don’t have any social media accounts for your services, make this an opportunity to create one! This can be beneficial to you long after this week of awareness. It can help you to grow your cliental as well as highlight some of the awesome promotions and business endeavors you’re doing.

Go ahead and change those main photos on your account to represent National Massage Therapy Awareness Week! Share those educational resources, and let the public know how you’re helping their community.

  7. Show appreciation to your Clients

  8. You wouldn’t be where you are without the continued support and business of your clients. People put their trust in you no matter which of the 25 (and more) reasons they visit you! Use this week as an opportunity to thank them. Maybe tack on an extra free 15 minutes to that hour-long massage they’re getting. Or use your social media accounts to let them know about a certain promotion you have going on. You can even hand out discount coupons to your customers for the next time they visit.

However you choose to thank your clients is up to you!

  9. Self-Care

  10. Arguably the most important way to celebrate, and a way that is often neglected…take care of yourself! Being a massage therapist can take a major toll on your body. In order to keep going in this profession and give it your all, it’s important that you listen to what your body is telling you. By listening, you can take care for yourself both mentally and physically. The AMTA provides an abundance of resources to make sure that you keep yourself from getting burnt out!
