Researchers in Turkey compared internet-based exercise with group exercise in patients with Type 2 diabetes in a randomized controlled trial. 65 patients with diabetes were randomly assigned to an exercise program (either group-based or internet-based) or a control group receiving education.
The 8 week exercise program included TheraBand® resistance exercise for major muscle groups (Download the exercise program here). The researchers concluded that the 2-month “group-based and internet-based exercise programs can equally improve glycemic control, waist circumference, and quality of life; and both programs are better than simply counseling.”
