The "core" refers to the region of the trunk that includes the abdomen, back, and hips. The core is considered the central stabilizing area for the rest of the body. It's important in producing forces and in transmitting forces. The core consists of the abdominal muscles, low back muscles, diaphragm, and pelvic floor muscles. The abdominals and muscles that support the trunk are very important to all movement and posture. Important muscles include the rectus abdominus, obliques, and the transverse abdominus. Weakness in this area can lead to problems elsewhere in the body. TheraBand Resistive Exercise Bands are available in eight progressive levels of resistance noted by the Thera-Band trademark color-coded progression: Tan, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, Silver, and Gold. Thera-Band resistive tubing is available in all colors except gold. The low back region (lumbar spine) consists of the five lumbar vertebrae and the sacrum bone. Many muscles and ligaments support this area because of its importance in overall body stabilization and movement.
